We have a wealth of experience teaching children and young adults, both privately and through group activities. In the past we have offered experiences and courses through Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Community Education, Cargilfield School, Stewart Melville College, Mary Erskine School, Fettes College, Fairbridge and others.
Currently, we're helping a group of Portobello High School students become PADI seals.
All staff who teach children are Disclosure Scotland vetted.
We have scuba equipment in children's sizes, to ensure that young divers are comfortable.
Please note that to take part in any PADI diver experience programme or course your child must be medically fit to participate. Please ask for the form relevant to the experience or course which your child will participate in.
Children's experience programmes

If you are 8 or 9 years old you will complete the bubblemaker as your first experience of scuba. This session is a fun play around, using full scuba equipment, in the safety of the swimmng pool.
You will meet with your instructor, complete a short breifing and enter the water to start your adventure. Once you have mastered the basics, in the shallow end, you venture into the deep end to play with frizbees, torpeedos and other pool toys.
Discover Scuba
Much like the bubblemaker but for children (and adults) aged 10 and over.
These experiences can be conducted at the same time to allow a family group to complete their first scuba experience together.

The Seals completed 10 speciality aquamissions, practicing existing skills and developing new ones.

They learnt how to use underwater cameras, during the snapshot dive, with some great results.

Using a calibrated dive reel they learnt how to control the
reel to accurately measure and map a model of a
shipwreck.
Each Seal can now find their way using an underwater compass and we saw some impressive navigating and distance measuring, during the navigation dive.

From the Seal Team course everyone had outstanding buoyancy skills, which they further developed, during their innerspace dive.

During the search and recovery dive the Seals
learnt how to search for items underwater and how to safely lift these objects to the surface.

Using these skills they collected various items during the environmental dive, as they would on an underwater clean up.
The Seals are now able to assist themselves and others both before and during a dive.

During the Creature ID dive they learnt about UK marine life and learnt some underwater hand signals for various creatures.

Wearing mask covers we simulated a night dive and the Seals found their way with underwater torches.
Finally, during the skin dive the Seals learnt how to snorkel effectively and duck dive to retrieve objects.
