Dry courses
These speciality courses can be completed without open water dives - Enriched Air Diver, Equipment Specialist
and Project AWARE.
The Enriched Air Diver course
can now be achieved without doing the course dives. This
change has been made as the dives did not include any skills,
with contents analysis and dive planning being discussed
on shore, prior to the dive. Obviously these skills can
be taught just as effectively in the classroom.
During the course you will learn about the physiological
effect of oxygen, during your dive, and about the special
considerations that you must account for during your dive
planning. You will also learn how to analyse the contents
of gas mixes.
Your certification will enable you to obtain enriched air
fills and to dive safely on Enriched Air. Deep Blue Scuba can provide Enriched Air on many of our
dive trips and on shore dives.
Many of you own some or all of your dive equipment and the
Equipment Specialist course
will teach you how many of these items work and how to care
for your kit. If you have ever wondered what the inside
of your 1st stage looks like or how your cylinder is tested
then this is the course for you.
We will split the course time between a theory session and
a hands on session, at Edinburgh Dive Centre. During the
hands on session you will learn more about cylinder hydrostatic
testing as well as being able to check out the working parts
of regulators and other items of equipment.
Deep Blue Scuba is a Project AWARE patron and we all feel strongly about the protection of
the marine environment. As the old cliché goes ‘information
is power’ and for this reason we will be completing
the Project AWARE speciality course.
This course will teach you about the plight of the marine
environment and what you can do to help protect it. Just
think, if each of you make small changes to your attitude.
